CO-FOUNDERS

MICHAEL A. FREEMAN

Michael  Freeman,  a  Co-Founder  of  the  Trans-American  Alliance  for  a  National  Consensus (TANC), is a veteran media marketer and former, long-time journalist — who eventually found it difficult to objectively observe the corrosive influences of special-interest lobbyists on politicians in Washington, D.C., failing to properly address the lingering socio-economic ills tearing at the fabric of America.   With disillusionment and disenfranchisement running high among the American electorate, Mr. Freeman conceived the idea of establishing TANC as a new, complementary “Electorate Legislative Branch” backed by students and scholars of America’s world-leading university/college system to become the nonpartisan  “ethical conscience of democracy.”

Mr. Freeman’s vision of a “consensus law-making body” took root from his time as a business and trade media journalist for several leading national weekly magazines.   It was during his time as an Editor/Reporter for such trade magazines as Mediaweek, Electronic Media (now Television Week) and Broadcasting & Cable that Mr. Freeman reported extensively on the largely deregulated “merger-mania” of large media conglomerates from the mid- to late-1990s.

From there, Mr. Freeman left trade journalism to pursue a transition to media marketing and promotions.  In late 2002, he co-founded Biz FX Media, Inc. as a boutique/contract marketing and promotions company, utilizing his decade-and-a-half exposure to the workings of the TV and film media arenas.  Mr. Freeman went on to provide marketing/creative services for leading independent studio, Sony Pictures Television International, in addition to Showtime Networks Inc., Game Show Network and a host of technology-based companies (Pioneer Digital Technologies, Synacor, BroadLogic, etc.), among other clients.

Overall, Mr. Freeman spent over 15 years as a media trade journalist, covering Traditional Media-oriented broadcast and cable networks, TV stations, as well as emerging New Media-oriented Internet and Mobile platforms, for Mediaweek (including sister publications Adweek and Brandweek), Broadcasting & Cable, Electronic Media, Daily Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and Sweepsbook.  Mr. Freeman started his journalism career in Chicago, where he began as a Sports Writer/Reporter for such regional newspapers as The Chicago Sun-Times, Pulitzer-Lerner Newspapers and Pioneer Press.
